Bilbo wakes up at the western gate, where Elizabeth Swann, the Governor's daughter finds him and nursed Bilbo back to health. Both become very close friends, up to the point where she and her father treat Bilbo as a family member.

Both of hem were kidnapped by Hector Barbossa, who believed Elizabeth to be the daughter of Bootstrap Bill Turner and that mixing her blood in with Bilbo Baggins' then will free them from their curse.  Bilbo fears the pirates when he sees them as walking skeletons. Barbossa later released Bilbo, but only has him walk the plank and drop into the water. The hobbit nearly drowns before Elizabeth comes down and assists him on the beach.

A year later, Bilbo continues living on the Black Pearl with Thorin Jack and their entire crew. Several things happen throughout the year: Bilbo misses Elizabeth and Will and all his other friends at port Royal and Anamaria leaves their crew. Over the year, Bilbo and Sparrow become very good friends, but often get into fights and fears that Jack will maroon him on an island. On one occasion, Bilbo and his entire crew were chased down by James Norrington and a fleet of his finest men. However, Jack had been able to evade him through a sea storm, causing James to resign from being a commodore and leaving for Tortuga to become a drunk. After this incident, Bilbo yells at Jack for ruining the career of one of the bravest men of the British Navy but apologizes a few weeks later.

Apart of one of Jack's hair-brained schemes, the captain breaks into a prison and steals a drawing of the key to the Dead Man's chest. Everyone in the crew except Bilbo become doubtful and want something shiny to come from Jack Sparrow. When Jack returns and complains about being in a coffin for four hours just to get the drawing, Bilbo admits to Jack that he's had worse ideas. The entire crew begins to have an argument; however, Jack tells them they need to find the chest the key opens to. Bilbo, out of idle curiosity, asks that the key holds something important based on his confusion of Jack's riddles. However, the pirate tells Bilbo that he isn't making any sense, much to the hobbit and Thorin's confusion. After their discussion, Marty whispers to Bilbo that their captain is acting stranger than usual, with Bilbo agreeing that something is up with Jack and wonders what is bothering him. ("Dead Man's Chest: Part 1")

Still curious about Jack's current behavior, Bilbo continues to look back at Jack's cabins and resists the urges to check up on him. As he looks out to the sea, Bilbo's wrist begins to burn up due to the mark Calypso and proposedly gave him and still doesn't know what the mark means. Thorin sees Bilbo's stress and asks the Hobbit if he is going to talk to Jack and tells Bilbo that Jack will listen to the hobbit even though Thorin has known Sparrow longer. Bilbo follows Thorin's advice and goes to Jack's cabins, where he finds the captain desperately thirsty for rum and drags Bilbo down with him to the cellar to fetch more rum. However, while they are at the basement of the ship, the duo notice slimy bugs from the water are on the sills and countertops. A cursed, unnamed figure approaches, who warns Jack that his time has run out. Bilbo learns the figure is Bootstrap Bill Turner, Will's father and remembering him to be dead. Jack tells Bootstrap reclaiming the Black Pearl from Hector Barbossa and reveals Will's involvement, to which Bilbo reveals that Will did become a pirate of sorts.

Bootstrap and Bilbo are formally introduced, but Jack interrupts their encounter and asks what business Bootstrap has there, to which the cursed man replies that Davy Jones sent him. Bilbo is surprised that Davy Jones is not a myth like the other pirates have said and learns that Jones had brought the Black Pearl from the depths of the ocean for Jack. and learns about Jack's deal to be captain of the Pearl for thirteen years and work on the Flying Dutchman for one-hundred years. Before he leaves after putting a black spot on Jack's hand, Bootstrap looks to Bilbo and grabs onto his risk, seeing Calypso's mark on Bilbo's wrist, warns the hobbit to pray that Davy Jones never finds him. After Bootstrap releases Bilbo, the hobbit looks to make sure that he doesn't have the same spot as Jack does, much to his relief. With the duo alone, Bilbo asks about the drawing of the key they found earlier has anything to do with Jack and Davy's deal. Jack replies that it may be a little bit involved and warns Bilbo not to tell anyone of their current situation, at least for now. The hobbit agrees not to, but is confronted by Thorin, who asks what happened between both, but Bilbo tells his friend that nothing happened, and notices Jack put a cloth around his black spot. When Gibbs asks what is coming at them, Bilbo shoots Jack glares to tell Mr. Gibbs the truth, but much t Bilbo's chagrin, Sparrow lies and says that nothing is coming after them. ("Dead Man's Chest: Part 2")

Bilbo and the other members of Jack Sparrow's crew enter the island, Isla de Pelegostos and go on shore so the kraken does not find them. However, while they are on the island, the crew encounters the island's cannibal tribe. Thorin and Bilbo make a daring escape, but realize that they had accdientally left the crew behind. Bilbo is then forcefully pushed into shrubs as a couple of members of the tribe walk by. The hobbit furiously yells at Thorin for toppling on top of him and asks for a warning next time. Thorin, fearing for Bilbo's safety, warns Bilbo to stay out of sight while he goes to get the crew back. The hobbit , remembering that fateful day on Ravenhill, asks his close friend to come back alive. Thorin promises to do so. The hobbit waits for a while, waiting for someone to come back. Bilbo decides to take manners into his own hands and rescue his friends from the Pelegostos tribe while wearing the Ring and finding a way out.

At World's End[]

Full history, view here.

It is also revealed Bilbo is under the protection of Calypso (who is in her Tia Dalma disguise) via the mark on his wrist, meaning no one, not even Davy Jones can harm him. Also, he is also Jones' by default because Calypso is not an active goddess and was the next thing she had to a family member, which is why Bootstrap warned the Hobbit that Jones must never find the bearer of Calypso's mark. (At World's End)

In exchange for Thorin's freedom, Bilbo exchanges himself for his friend, despite Elizabeth's and Hector Barbossa's protests. Jones happily accepts this deal. This lead s Thorin to despise Elizabeth for making Bilbo chose a side and getting him captured again by Davy Jones.

Talents and skills[]

  • Sword-fighting: Bilbo has a talent for sword-fighting, but it doesn't master Jack Sparrow's Hector Barbossa's ,Will Turner's or James Norrington's. However, the abilities were enhanced when Barbossa also gave him sword fighting tips while holding Bilbo captive. By the time of the last crossover film, Bilbo is able to fight better against Davy Jones' men.
  • Archery: As shown in At World's End, Bilbo was able to swiftly use an bow and arrow to fly across one of Sao Feng's men. He is also seen using it in battle. How he enhanced his abilities are unknown.
  • Enhanced hearing: Due to being the sharpest member in Jack Sparrow's crew, Bilbo is able to hear things better than anyone else. This could be because he has descended from fairies.
  • Invisibility: Due to having the One Ring, Bilbo is able to go invisible. However, he lost it when he was transferring worlds. He does, however, find the ring underneath a desk and uses it to turn invisible to his unsuspecting enemies.

Items and trademarks[]

  • Sting: Bilbo's sword which he kept with him at all times. However, Bilbo lost it after being captured by pirates. Suddenly, it appeared when Weatherby Swann handed it back to Bilbo, and kept it in handy.

Personality[]

A Hobbit with love of friends and the comforts of home, Bilbo Baggins was considered a very adventurous hobbit as a young lad. He soon became overpowered by Hobbit society, and adapted into high society. However, after he is found by Thorin Oakenshield and his band of Dwarves, Bilbo finds himself conflicting the life of luxury (as a Baggins) and an adventurous spirit (as a Took).

Bilbo is very skeptical and doubtful of himself but he later changes since he is not the same hobbit as the one who left the Shire and was once widely respected throughout the Hobbiton neighborhood. He is very impressed easily, mostly by Thorin's backstory as he rose from a young dwarf prince to the strongest dwarf king in Middle-earth. Bilbo is easily scared, which is how Fifli and Kili do to play on his emotions. Bofur did so when mentioning Smaug will burn him to a crisp and Bilbo fainted out of fear. Bilbo often is proven to be a terrible liar, and can not lie as good as a burglar would really. This is when he can not lie when his friends are in the pickle with the trolls, Bert, William, and Tom. He also seems to pity a creature that appears to look miserable.

Bilbo cares a lot about his friends and do whatever he can to protect them. For example, he sees Thorin falling and shows expressed worry when Smaug tells him the King is just using Bilbo and that he would want to see him suffer, and Bilbo couldn't let that happen. He also was determined to help the dwarves reclaim their homeland feeling their pain.

Despite the kind caring person Bilbo can be, he can have a bad side about himself. At first you see Bilbo horrified when he starts killing others, most notably his first victims, the Warg. He shows no remorse in killing the Orc that almost executed Thorin. He also killed a baby spider brutally over the Ring, but it was mostly the One Ring's influence. He almost had a mind of killing Gollum, but then decided not to. He also lied about losing the One Ring in battle to Gandalf. He also has a rather dislike for pirates, particularly Hector Barbossa, the one who kidnapped him in the first place. The only pirate Bilbo tolerated over the years was his friend and foster brother, Jack Sparrow.

He also feared Davy Jones and was even scared when Jones had ordered the hobbit to be put in the Pirate Captain's cabin, trying to find out how to escape from him and help Elizabeth. However, he was eventually saved by Norrington.

  • Eye color: Hazel
